USDG: the asset this chain settles in

Robinhood Chain settles in one stablecoin: USDG, the Global Dollar issued by Paxos. It is a six-decimal ERC-20 at 0x5fc5360D…d168, and it is the busiest asset on the chain — over a recent 500-block window it moved 5,775 times, more than every tokenized equity on the chain combined.

What the contract says

Read straight off the chain at block 78,268,088:

  • symbol() → USDG
  • decimals() → 6
  • totalSupply() → 700,970,827.40

Six decimals is the part that bites. Almost everything else on this chain — including all 95 of the tokenized equities — uses eighteen. A tool that assumes eighteen will render a USDG balance a trillion times too small, and it will not raise an error; it will simply show the wrong number with full confidence.

The supply moves, so the number needs a date on it

At block 78,120,717, the same totalSupply() call returned 701,289,465.88. A few hours later, at block 78,268,088, it was 700,970,827.40 — a swing of roughly 319,000. That is ordinary for a stablecoin with a mint-and-redeem desk behind it, and it is the reason the figure on our home page carries the block it was read at instead of standing on its own. A bare seven-hundred-million drifts by a percent every few days.

There is a second contract with the same idea and the wrong everything

At 0xec90adc7…4a3e there is another token calling itself United States Global Dolla, with eighteen decimals. It is not USDG. If you are hard-coding an address anywhere — a swap route, a price feed, a treasury script — hard-code 0x5fc5360D0400a0Fd4f2af552ADD042D716F1d168 and nothing else.

Where the price comes from

A Chainlink USDG/USD aggregator sits at 0x8bEeE350…951c2e, eight decimals, currently printing just under a dollar. It updates roughly once a day, so treat it as a check that the peg is intact rather than as a live quote. If you need a price with a freshness bound, read latestRoundData() and compare updatedAt yourself — a staleness threshold of an hour will reject it most of the time.

Why it matters here

Gas on this chain is paid in ETH, but the assets that move are denominated in USDG. That split is worth internalising before you size anything: a transaction costs fractions of a gwei, while the value it carries is measured in dollars.
